I am usually tolerant of the myriad of "What's the Best Concealer/Foundation/Bronzer/Etc." because most people are sincerely just looking for some recommendations to get them on the right foot but lately, it has been overkill! I was just wondering if any one has any ideas or solutions we could maybe recommend to BL Team that would clear up some unnecessary posts, while still ensuring that people are getting the help they want. Like, maybe a beginner's section? Or maybe having a section with the most recommended/commonly used products in different price ranges? Share, Share, Share!
Oh, and Happy Inauguration Day everyone! = P

yeah i agree. also the search section is terrible which doesnt help.maybe thats y theres so many repeats, if i want to find something out i search the topics first but what u get as a result is nothing to do with ur search

I was just thinking the same exact thing! I do understand at times because of the different skin types or what the concealer will be used for(undereyes, blemishes, ect) but lately its been non stop repetitive questions! And i do not want to bash our younger members on here, because i know when i was younger i wish there was a website like this to answer all my questions. But i do realize most the questions coming from youth. Is it possible for us to have mods or even a search bar for us to search through posts and questions. A beginner section would be helpful but there is no way to be positive that people would actually use it. Unless like i said we have a few board mods able to actually most posts into the correct sections. But i completely agree! And theres also been so much negativity..

Right? I even try to recommend the review section, but even that can be time-consuming to find what your looking for.

We have a few board mods able to actually MOVE posts into correct sections *

I just realize that all people do when those questions are asked is respond with their favorite product. If 50 people respond, that could be a list of 50 different products assuming there were no repeats.

I think a beginners section is a good idea. U could do the most commonly asked questions there

Me too! I dont get really annoyed by the fact that they are young and are making an effort to learn, but I just feel the responses they are getting are really not giving them what they need. Like maybe when new users sign up Beautylish could recommend them looking at a "Just Starting Out" page or "Commonly Recommended Products for ___ concern."

Yea, but I feel with a post like this it would be too much work to search through, and people wouldn't utilize it.

I wish they would do a FAQ thing...so people could look there first and if it's not covered THEN ask in the appropriate section
Also I really wish we had moderators sooooooo much

And unfortunately some people are just going to be mean, and nasty to them no matter what any of us say, so I think it could improve their experience and kind of shield them from getting reprimanded like small children.

I honestly think mods would be the easiest way to solve this problem. On forums mods have the ability to lock, delete, and move posts that are repetitive, off topic, or innappropriate. If a question is being asked that has been answered already the mod can just lock it and post a hyperlink to where the poster can get there answer

I think Mods are a good idea Victoria! We recommended that a long time ago for different reasons, but for whatever reason they never went for it. I think they may be afraid of people getting too power happy and making this place strict or taking away people's ability to say what they feel.

Totally agree with this! Like I can't tell you how many times a day I see " which ones better naked one or naked two" on my feed!!!

I dont know if this is even possible but if some how before a user posts a question that has already been asked it can prevent them from posting and direct them to a page of similar posts like the one they were about to ask. And then a button asking if they go their answer, and if not then they can go ahead with their post. Im completely html retarded so i dont even know if that is possible but it would sure be incredibly helpful

YES, that is really good too! I never even thought of that. I am sure they could manage to do that, it sounds small compared to what they have done to this website as a whole.

I agree, but they also need to upgrade the iphone app! Im sure many use it and its nothing compared to the website. So many tools are not accessible

What type of posts would you like to see more of? Out of curiosity. I sometimes don't post things because I don't want to be extremely repetitive or look like a dummy. So what's considered acceptable by the pros or veterans of beautylish

I tend to lurk around and pull info from others posts lol but sometimes I really would like a suggestion or recommendation lol

Im mostly speaking about really vague questions such as "whats the best foundation, concealer, red lipstick" it would be more helpful if they said "whats the best foundation for (skintype)" and then elaborated more of what products they have tried of what type of finish/coverage they would like.
Jan 20, 2013
Cameron R.
Its nothing to do with what I or anyone else considers acceptable. I, just like anyone else, can easily choose to find a different topic to discuss if I come across something I dont like. Like Victoria said, I am mainly talking about vague questions, and more importantly that people aren't getting the help they need when they ask such vague questions. Asking for a good foundation that does something specific is likely to give the OP what they are looking for.

Thanks. I'll keep that in mind when posting! And I think the only way to get rid of some unnecessary things would be to make this a paid app as I'm sure most are on their iPhones.
Jan 21, 2013
Shelley W.
Making it a paid app would definitely keep things on an "adult" level. Love the idea but I doubt the owners of Beautylish would go for that one.

The paid app would be great but like Shelley said I doubt they'd go for it. I can't see why they don't appoint moderators. I think it would be very beneficial to their site to do so. Any other site I've been on that has a forum of any kind has moderators that keep things neat and in check. It just seems like the smart thing to do.

I'd glady moderate this mofo
