I typically don't, I find that it doesn't do anything if I just patt it on. But recently I read from a skincare book that you can make "lotion mask" (Japanese call toner lotion), you wet a few cotton pads 75% then add non alcohol toner to make it fully wet, lay the pads in your face for 3 mins. I feel and see such a difference! So plum and hydrating, then I went on with serum and moisturizer. Wish it helps!

Toner helps remove the excess dirt that your cleanser didn't get off. It also helps refresh your skin and allows it to breath better. There are spray on toners that help to touch up your makeup and to refresh your skin throughout the day.

Toner helps remove excess dirt from your pores that your cleanser didn't remove and also helps prep it for allowing your pores to soak in your serums and moisturizer more. It's also used to help refresh your skin to allow it to breath better.

There are alot of misconception about Toners. You shouldn't use a toner to remove make up. If you are, RUN to the store to get a new cleaner. Lol. So before you apply foundation or any kind of make up to the face. Toners stimulate and restores the skins pH balance. Basically prepping the skin for any make up application. Now after washing and exfoliating the face, it will do this natural. If you wait 10 minutes or so. BUT if you do not have 10 minutes to spare during your make up application, then use a toner. It basically sets down a foundation for foundation. It isn't a necessity though for a regimen. Hope this helps!

Asya is right on the money. If your toner pad is showing makeup residue, you aren't removing your makeup properly and need to invest in a makeup remover or a better cleanser. Toner is only used to restore your skin's ph balance and to allow it to absorb moisture better after using a cleanser. If you are using a gentle enough cleanser you may not need a toner. or clarifying lotion.
