I want some opinions on some vitamin c serums. I have one ,but the smell is so bad I can't use it :(. I prefer one with L-ascorbic acid in it also...any suggestions???

The absolute best Vitamin C serum is one you make yourself. L-Ascorbic acid oxidizes at a very fast rate and once it does, it's pretty useless. The recommendation is to make enough supply for a week. You can fi d a lot of DIY recipes online. The one I use to get a 10% solution (to be effective, the serum should be at least 10%). I use 1/4 tsp L-Ascorbic acid powder or crystals, added to 5ml warm Distilled water. Gently shake or stir until dissolved. Then add 5ml Propylene Glycol (some people use Glycerin instead). You should use either an amber or blue glass bottle to store it )not clear glass... It needs to be shielded from light...

And yes, use L-Ascorbic acid specifically. Also, 5ml=1tsp

Vitamin c is very effective IMHO and this looks like a good recipe. I'd use the glycerine.

Or you can just save yourself the trouble and get yourself some turbo booster from Philosophy to mix into your moisturizer. It's shelf stable and you use very little of it, so it lasts quite a while.

I am curious as to what the vitamin c does for skin? I've seen it mentioned, but don't know what it's for. Could someone fill me in?

Vitamin C helps your sunblock work better but it also helps collagen from breaking down. It's best used before your sunblock in AM.

Ole Henriksen Truth Serum is amazing and I personally don't find it has any weird smell to it. It makes skin super smooth and soft and absorbs immediately.

I believe it has l-ascorbic derivatives in it. I'm not sure of what the actual concentration amounts are though. Either way It has been amazing for my skin and every hydrating. It's also free of gross chemicals like parabens, petrochemicals and fragrances and dyes which is always a good thing.
