I've never had my hair colored so I have a few questions. Are all salons able to color hair purple? I'm thinking of doing a purple ombre...I'm assuming all salons do, but just want to make sure since it's not a usual request. How long does it typically take to color hair? My hair color maybe need to be lightened for the purple fyi. I'm just really nervous to make an appointment 😁 Like I've said, I've never done this before so I'm nervous about the whole process, especially since purple hair is not "normal".

I would call ahead and ask. The salon I went to didn't have ash brown or blonde hair dye and they didn't tell me until after the fact. I just assumed they'd have it. Since you've never done it, you're hair is probably really healthy so the bleaching (if they do it) will be damaging but not too damaging. Some salons carry dye that will color dark hair purple. Just embrace your color! It'll look gorgeous, no doubt! You'll get glances and stares but it's only because they're either hating or they're in love with it. (:

I agree with @Shanae, definitely call and ask. Some salons don't carry some less common natural colors, let alone unnatural colors. So just call and ask if they have the makings for purple hair and possibly add if they can do the specific shade you want (Lavender, pastel, dark, etc) :) Xx

Call ahead some salons don't carry vibrant colors all the time some only have more neutrals and reds but not vibrants usually so just call in

I never thought about that. I would call ahead although every salon I've been to was able to colour my hair purple. however I wasn't going for a bright purple, I was getting a brown based colour with some redish and purple added to it. my hairdresser uses 5 dyes mixed togeyher to achieve my hair color. from start to finish my hair takes approximately an hour and a half.
