I agree with Janelle 100%. I have to agree with Les too. Spray tans look fake to me. I recommend gradual tanning lotions.

Brittany F just read that artical... "Fish show gender disruption due to sunscreen chemicals’ strong hormonal influences, indicating the same gender disruption CAN occur in human fetuses. Common in the news today are children with gender identity confusion."??...That artical in my opinion was a load of fake rubbish it is not at all factual. Just saying if rather wear sunscreen than get skin cancer

I naturally tan, but when I need a little bit of a tan "enhancer" I just put on a natural tanning lotion over my legs and a very small amount. plus, I make sure to not put it above my tan lines because I want it to look very natural. I would tan naturally and get a tanning lotion [not orangey] to enhance your tan. it works great for me and it looks really natural if applied right!

And I don't think a tanning lotion will give you skin cancer. there is no 100% safe way to tan. you can get an all natural tan by laying out in the sun and still have skin cancer when your older due to the harmful rays of the sun.

I use to get spray tans for fitness competitions. The darker the better. In those situations so many gals looked very obvious. Some spray tans came out quite orange on me and some too brown and flat. So many variables involved that its insane. If you are super fair skin then yes its going to look quite obvious...especially if you don't include your face.

I'm an esthetician & spray tan artist and have to disagree that ALL spray tans look fake. And I'm not just saying that because it's my job. I used to tan in the sun or tanning beds a lot until I went to school and seen all the damage from the sun on clients. I've seen the worst orange streaky fake spray tans and I've also seen people with then and you would NEVER know. I've had so many clients express the same concerns and are now weekly or bi weekly reoccurring very loyal clients! I use Norvell solution with their best machine and use the correct prep and post sprays on each client and so far no one has turned out orange or obvious. It's also about the tech, sometimes when someone comes in who is really pale they'll say they want to be really dark which can look unnatural as it fades, so I explain to them what I suggest even tho in the end it's their decision but I want them to look their best so I choose or mix colors based on their skin tone and do one coat and have them look and decide and 99% are happy with what I did and don't want to go darker. So many clients are in awe at how naturally sunkissed it can look if done correctly! I would suggest trying it out, do your research and hopefully you'll find a great place and tech and love it! It's not always about not liking your skin tone, some just prefer a change or feel skinnier, sexier, more confident tan. I know I do and I'm not ashamed to admit it. it covers my redness and being a person who wears med to full coverage foundation every day and never used to even own a product with less coverage I now can wear a bb cream when I'm spray tanned and I love that. Good luck with your decision and btw it is soo much better and safer than sun damage even if it takes a few times to find a good place to go to.

And when your pH level is off it can alter the color to more orange but that only will occur if you don't take care of your skin properly. I've sprayed many times without properly prepping and it still turns out great but do not use a booth, I spray lighter on the hands, feet, underside of the arms, etc.and a little more where the sun naturally hits (shoulders) a booth cannot do that. I get many appts from people who used a booth and need me to fix it. I sprayed a girl today who was literally white & wanted some color because she was leaving for FL tomorrow and didn't want to be so pale in a bikini, I mixed a custom color for her based on her skin tone and desired look and she loved it, she stayed in the room an extra 10 min staring at herself in the mirror lol it was such a great feeling

Iol all I ask is that you do your research. I'm not asking anyone to go out and get skin cancer, SUN BLOCKS are better than chemicals lathered onto your skin. And Sara I'm trying my first airbrush tan this week because I only ever use booths, I hope they're as careful as you :)

I agree with Sarah there are definitely spray tans out there that can look natural if I could afford it iD do it more often lol but normally I just use gradual tanning lotion. I also agree with you about the being able to wear less face makeup with a tan Sarah I love that!!

Thank you Shelley. Yeah I'm beginning to notice that, many clients have mentioned they didn't get the same treatment at their last place or same outcome. but that's why I'm in this business in general, to make people feel beautiful so I would never half ass any job no matter what it is.

@Brittany best thing is to do your research, look for pictures from them if possible, and really feel them out face to face. Each of my clients start with a consultation on what to expect, color they desire, etc. and many places I've gone to don't do that. you're about to get naked in front of someone, you should feel comfortable!
@Logan, my favorite thing ever lol. it's such a relief having my face look like it's been airbrushed with foundation already
