Does it have to be curled? Every tutorial I have found has curled hair.. So did everyone curl their hair? I doubt everyone did, but anyway does anyone know any styles without curled hair?

I've always wanted to try it myself but I don't know the easiest way. I just know it creates a vintage look :)

Oh shoot sorry for spelling your name wrong! My friend learned in grade 10 and she loved doing them! I never understood how but they look so pretty and feminine and soft! I attempted a vintage look tonight and after messing around for three hours I just flat ironed my hair straight :(

New styles are never as easy as they look lol. Idk if you were using the clips to do it or not, but I don't have those so I never try. And if it makes you feel better I can spell your name wrong 😄

As far as I know most styles involved curls, if not waves. If you want 1940s then what I do is use foam rollers and a little mousse, and allow wet hair to dry naturally. Then, use something along the lines of a paddle/cushioned brush, not a smoothing brush, and brush out the curls. It'll go huge and frizzy for a while but just keep going, it'll settle!! I then use barrettes to clip one or both sides of my hair back! Try Vintagious on YouTube, she's excellent! :)

Do you mean without heat-curled hair? Because Victory rolls can be done with straight hair and pins!

Yeah, Victory rolls don't require curly hair. You could also roll the hair up and under a headband, which creates a faux roll. Also try a Rosie The Riverter headscarf - the hair can be pinned up any way underneath the scarf and it's surprisingly easy to tie!

I agree with Ellie! and I also thought that a pompadour hairstyle is very easy and is great with straight hair! You can do it as Ellie suggested with a headband or with bobby pins.
In this picture they combined a victory roll (sort of), pompadour and headscarf!

I do these when I don't want to use heat 😊.I use the rose riverter look when my hairs really greasy lol.

I do the pompadour on a regular basis to keep my bangs up, but I've tried victory rolls and they just look messy :( thanks girls I appreciate all the help!!

Rolls aren't easy! Even when you think you got them down, ya don't. Don't let that deter you if that's the look you want!

Haha thanks girls! Y'all are so sweet! I'll keep practicing. And I never really thought about it. I always loved the hair and found it so feminine and gorgeous, but the other night my husband mentioned that hair and said he liked it and thought I'd look great with it, so now I'm intrigued and would love to get a look down I time for our wedding anniversary next month haha.

That's great! You could put curlers in the night before your anniversary, I think you'd rock it!

I have a photo of my hair done up with rag curls... But I don't know how to make that look vintage... (It's on my profile)

Raylene I found a neat website : http://www.beautylish.com/t/ipywvv/hair-dye-transformation - you might want to look at. It gives you setting patterns plus lots of other info.
