Hey beauties. I know I already posted a lip ring thread but this is a different question. I want a single ring on the right side of my lip and I really hate the look of a bar/stud but some people are saying I HAVE to get a bar when I first get pierced. here's my problem, I can't find anywhere online about if I have to get a bar or ring and I really don't have the money to go out and buy the actual ring I want when I can change it. so in your experience, did you have to have a bar or did you have a choice?

All of my piercers have advised against rings to begin with. Why? Because they make the piercing heal in a way where they're on a curve, to accommodate the ring but if you ever had to put a bar in, say for work or anything like that you may not be able to. Rings also tend to catch on things more frequently then bars and are more prone to infection because they can be so easily bumped or caught on things. You'll only need to wait 4/6 weeks to change it to a bar, however I would try and wait at least 8 to be sure, I've had experiences trying to put bars back in when they've been out for 5 minutes when they're new and it really isn't a nice feeling. Just get the bar, you won't have to have it forever. :)

I would get the bar because like shaye said it will heal curved.
