So when I shave I get seriously bad ingrown hairs in the bikini area it's just goes all red and bumpy and looks awful and puts me off shaving but I don't like not shaving. I've tried exfoliating before shaving and then again a day after but it just doesn't work I really want to shave but I want it to be nice and smooth not red and bumpy can anyone suggest anything do any of you have the same problem?

When you shave that area you need to first cleanse, then exfoliate, then use a crap ton of shaving cream and a sharp new razor, then exfoliate again. When you get done use a light moisturizer as well.

Try using an astringent like witch hazel or something like bikini zone or tend skin after shaving. how do you feel about getting the area waxed instead? I get soo many ingrowns and bumps when I shave but it's minimized when I wax.

I have tried them, and they don't seem to help. my favorite way to shave down there is with coconut oil. and then I moisturize with it for the next few days, and that seems to help me.

Honestly the same happens to me so I just switched to Nair. Or you could try waxing, I'm not that brave tho :)

I don't know your hair type but people with thick wavy/curly hair are more prone to ingrowns because the hair is more likely to curl under the skin instead of growing straight out. I use nufree finipil lait 50 after waxing and it helps prevent ingrowns if I use it daily (I get it through amazon). Did you wax at home or at a quality salon? When I go get waxed, my esthetician removes any ingrowns I have and that helps me a lot. If you want to keep shaving you should at least apply something soothing to the area afterwards like pure aloe.. think about how dry your legs get after shaving. Also don't shave very often because that can contribute to ingrowns.
