I heard the watermelon is a good way to clear your skin because it's mostly water. is this true?

To apply it topically...has no bearing on skin health whatsoever. Eating it...same thing. Fruit in general is great to consume for health purposes but as with all things in moderation. Perfect example...I'm allergic to citrus...I love orange juice but if I have too much I break out in hives and experience other nasty effects that aren't pretty.

Containing 93% of water and combination of vitamins A, B6, C, watermelon helps whiten skin, recover damaged skin and protect skin from scorching sun. If you have sun burnt or chemically burnt skin Take 1 spoon of fresh watermelon juice, then use absorbent cotton to apply on the face and sunburned skin. After 15 minutes, rinse with cold water, you will see this area soft and less red.
For dryer skin mix 1 teaspoon of watermelon juice with 1 teaspoon of honey. Honey is a natural humectant, brings moisture to the skin, and helps nutrient in watermelon juice absorb to skin better. Apply to face for 20 minutes and rinse off.
For an acne treatment mix 1 teaspoon of watermelon juice with 1 teaspoon of crushed banana. Banana contains vitamin B2, B6 and B12, helping reduce skin inflammation as well as make skin firm and healthy. Watermelon is considered a moisturizer without oil, supplying water supply moisturizing the skin. Apply on your face for 15 minutes and rinse with warm water.

By itself it is nourishing but will not necissarily clear acne. Watermelon is a nice gentle ingredient to include in facial treatments though. I also want to add to my paragraph that you should spot test any ingredients before to ensure your skin doesn't have a negative reaction

The vitamins found in watermelon are also in many anti-oxidant serums in much higher concentrations than in the actual fruit itself with results being seen far faster than a DIY watermelon mask or toner.

I simply answered what she asked, it's definitely a nice refreshing mask to do and not harmful in any ways :)

I'll also add that the watermelon banana mask leaves your skin glowing, even though I absolutely hated the smell

Oh I completely understand Brittany. I just didn't want folks thinking its a speedy cure all for skin ailments. And I don't know where you live but omg...watermelon is expensive to buy where I am at...lol.

LOL my brothers love it so we always have some laying around. I'm not sure how expensive it is though, I believe it's in season right now cause I've seen it everywhere! I can't stand the taste or smell so I always steal a bit and make a refreshing mask!

I can eat the watermelon flavored candy...but the actual fruit...it upsets my stomach.

I'm sure watermelon has it's benefits... but for clearing up skin I would probably try something else. I've had great luck using Aztec Healing Clay ($7.00 at whole foods ) followed with a raw Manuka honey mask if you're looking for some more natural ways along with monthly extractions.

Kitty K. how do you apply/mix with for the Manuka Honey mask?

Kitty K.
@Iline M.
If I want to use it with the Aztec Healing Clay... I add about a table spoon in and mix it.. makes it a bit more spreadable.
I do prefer to use it alone after I've cleansed and applied the clay mask on my face. It has worked wonders for reducing inflammation and evening out skin tone... I recommend Comvita with a UMF of 15. I've tried the Wedderspoon Honey at whole foods but they don't use the UMF rating system and I have noticed a difference when I do use brands rated by UMF and AMHA approved. I usually leave it on for about 15-20 minutes after.

You could look up this recipe, my mom saw it on a beauty website.
It's a detox Smoothie for acne all you need is...
•Watermelon
• a Carrot
• Natural Green tea
Prepare the green tea, let it cool off and then cut your watermelon and for the carrot you use the heart of it like the middle part of it and mix it in your blender and drink it only in the morning
