You should use a heat protector anytime that heat is applied to your hair. The only time I wouldn't use it is if the product that is putting heat on my hair says not to use any products on hair. Other than that use the heat protector for any form of heat like flat irons, curling irons, blow dryers, etc.

I always spray in heat protection when using heat but my mom doesn't and I wish that she did.

Do you also need to use heat protection when using a diffuser? I know that you need to when you just blowdry it...
