Ha I'm the queen of messy buns normally I'll add a few messy curls and tease my hair flip my hair to the front grab wrap the band around once and do it half way again. and then leave a few curly pieces out hopefully this helps it's one of my ways I do it.

For me, I found it was a little tricky as I have really long hair that doesn't have much hold, but what I do is make them after my hair is a little damp, for example I'll shower at night and then sleep with my hair in a basic bun, not cute at all and then in the morning when I take it out and get ready to make the messy bun it already has some texture and hold! I know that was long winded but that has really worked for me!!
