I have used real African black soap on my back and it helped with acne. It's too drying for my face

I bought that African black soap from wholefoods and after about 3 uses my skin was insanely dry and painful but I have sensitive skin to begin with. It took me a while to get my skin back to normal afterwards.

Yeah I'd say return it & get the real deal because this soap stripped ALL moisture from my face. It was terrible.

@Liz...its the same one I use as well. I can't use the TRUE African Black soap. It tore my skin up big time. But this one didn't cause me any grief once I started using it. Its great for me during the summer months when the weather is just gross (hot and humid). I use it with my loofah to exfoliate my body and as a once a day facial cleanser.

I use the one by Shea Moisture and love it. I don't really have acne problems so I can't say anything about that. It does leave your skin feeling clean and soft/moisturized and not that tight feeling you get when you wash with regular soap.

It depends on what African soap you purchased. The Raw African Soap is best!, but be careful bc it is over drying and may cause some burns of your skin is super sensitive but make sure to mosturize after washing your face (:
I'd begin with washing your face with the soap once a day for about a week or week and a half and slowly increase to twice a day (:
