If your hair has never been dyed then you do not have to use bleach to get your hair lighter you can go to a salon and have them use a a light hair dye and it will work fine and it doesn't cause damage like bleach does. I would recommend not doing it your self but salons can be pricy. My ombre was 110 dollars so just keep that in mind

Thanks for the advice!Yeah I'm not coordinated enough to do it by myself haha. I would definitely go to my stylist. Any suggestions on color or to have it styled to look best?

Definitely go to a salon. I had it done last year and loved it. I'll probably do it again this summer.

Also keep in mind the products open to the public and non professionals are completely different than what is offered to professionals the chemicals and ingredients in them are completely different some of the additives in non professional products are very harsh on the hair

Balayage is not the best thing to do at home... especially since it often requires using bleach or a lightener if you Want to save the integrity of your hair go see a professional when it comes to lightening your own hair you can do a lot of damage... I am a licensed cosmetologist and I have had so many clients come in with damaged hair from trying to balayage, ombre, and bleach their hair at home... and it is not what you want to do.

Doing anythig to your hair will damage it but it won't be totally horrible. Also it depends on your hair growth speed, usually 1/2-1 inch a month and I would suggest using a lifter or bleach (I'm not a hair stylist please don't do that without asking someone knowledgeable lol I'm just going off of like videos I've watched) if I were you I'd watch guy tang on YouTube, he has tons of balayage videos

Does it damage the hair? And how long does it take to grow out? I also have medium to dark brown hair with very few natural highlights? What color would you suggest?

Hi ladies, I have been wanting to do a really really natural looking balayage, but I have never colored my hair or even used heat on my hair. Do you have any opinions or experiences with balayage that you could share? Or any pictures? Thanks :)
