Color oops took the red out of mine pretty well and I feel like it is the safest thing I've used, I've used it twice and I have to say it did it's job, my hair was a blonde orange after and I was able to go brown pretty easy, all under 20 bucks. Hope you have success, red is so pretty but so much work

I would put it on top but it fades and the red is showing again. I may have to bite the bullet and do it. Or go to a professional.

Oh and I had been coloring my hair with Loreal hicolor hilights magenta and red, which is permanent color, for about 6 months and it still worked!

My hair honestly felt softer after using it than it did prior to removing the red. I shampooed twice, then used the toner it came with for 5 min, then used Ion color defense intense moisture for 3-5 min and done. It was on for around 25 minutes and I was amazed when I washed it out! If you aren't trying to go lighter and are doing a dark brown or black then you could always try to put it on top and see if it will cover it. That has worked as a last resort for me in the past.

Traci, the after results was only one application?? It did really good removing the red. Did you experience any major damage or dryness??

Thanks ladies.

I went to Sally's and was about to purchase one & only color fix but I seen it had hydrogen peroxide and they told me that I might as well use bleach because it's the same amount of bleach that one and only use compared to actual bleach. I did not purchase it because I don't want to damage my hair after I finally got it back to it's healthy state.

Sucks because I really want to get this red out.

Oh, and the sales guy also said if you're going to dye over it after the color remover choose a shade that's one to two levels lighter than the color you want because your hair will absorb a lot more color since the remover opens the hair cuticle.

My hair was dyed a level 4 mahogany (ion color brilliance permanent, mocha series). I went to Sally's and the sales associate said Color Fix by The One and Only was the best color remover. I tried it and was really happy with the results. I did two passes and it removed all the red tones and lightened it up quite a bit (my hair is naturally dark ashy blonde). It was slightly lighter than my natural color and brassy so I used a level 9 neutral blonde demi to tone it and it came out a nice neutral light brown color. My hair is super soft and shiny and doesn't feel damaged at all. Guy Tang has a great video on YouTube on using color remover that made me feel a lot more confident before just jumping in. You might want to check that out.

That's good! I was thinking about going purple but I was scared that I'd have to bleach again and I just got my hair decently healthy.

Yes me too, color oops smelled totally rank! This stuff still smelled but no where near the nastiness of the color oops, lol.

Magic! Thanks for sharing Traci! I'm definitely using that next time, color oops made me gggaaagggg constantly.

Oh and I only left it on for about 25-30 minutes, good luck with your hair!

Here's after (excuse my no makeup face)

I just did this process last week and went from bright red to blonde. I used this stuff called One & only color fix that I bought from Sally's. It was $14 and 1 package was enough to do all of my hair that's down to my bra line. It was kind of stinky but no where near as bad as Color oops was, and imo worked better than the color oops too. It also didnt seem to damage my hair, it still felt super soft after I was done. I thought I would have to bleach after but it worked soooo well that I didn't do anything after. I'll post a before and after here for you to see.

Either should be good. Dying it dark will be fine if you don't get all the red out. It didn't damage my hair at all until I had to bleach it of course. It left my hair feeling a tad weighed down until the next wash.

Shanae, did it damage your hair?

I was thinking of dying my hair a brown or black color.

I was thinking of using pravana 2 step color remover or the color oops.

can't***

You have to dye over it, you can remove blonde.

Oh I had no Idea my friend just told me to by a stripper! So I did and nothing happened. How are you suppose to get lighter colours out?

Mar 31, 2015

Shanae J.

Charlotte, it probably didn't work because it lightened your hair and you can't unlighten your hair with color remover. I used color oops and it worked great. Turned my hair Orange from red, then I had to bleach the rest out.

I am blonde and once went a lighter blonde and when I tried to remove the colour it did not come out at all and just made my hair dry and awful for a long time probably because I used something cheap so I'd deffinitly search up and read lots of reviews!
