I am trying to figure out how to do my own eyeliner since I will be 14 soon and I have dance recitals that require eyeliner and I decided to learn about eyeliner. I was wondering if liquid eyeliner, pencil eyeliner, or gel eyeliner is best? And how to apply it and just the basics😋

Well, I'm not sure the way I do it is right, but I use a black eyeliner pencil on my waterline, and liquid liner with a wing on my upper lash line. It ends up somewhat like this. Keep in mind, I suck at makeup.

So only use pencil eyeliner on your waterline? And your not the only one, I can basically only do mascara😄

You can use pencil or gel liner on your waterline.

Experiment with liquid, gel, and pencil and see which is easier for you to work with. I rarely wear liner but when I do I use gel.

Make sure the liner is right up against your lashes so you don't have a space of skin peeking through between your lashes and your liner.

When you do a wing the wing should follow the line of your waterline as if it's extending from the waterline.

Practice makes perfect so just practice as much as you can. I do not suggest using tape to get a clean line, the tape pulls at the delicate skin around your eyes and can cause wrinkles. Also I don't think you really learn how to do a proper wing since you're just depending on the tape but that's just my opinion.

You can always clean up your wing with concealer or makeup remover on a a-tip.

I've been doing winged liner for 3-4 years and here is what I've learned.
first off make sure you are comfortable and your arm is well rested on something steady.
some people start off different inner corner, outer corner, wing but I personally like to start off with the wing going from the lower lash line and pull it up towards the tail of my eyebrow. after that I start going into the inner corner with short thin stokes and it sort of makes a triangle type shape so I fill that part in making sure I can't see any part of my skin.
oh and I make sure I am following my natural eye shape and once I'm done I'll thicken it up to my liking making sure the inner corner is thinner than the rest of my eye.

here are my favorite eyeliners and some tips :

liquid (NYC, almay) - be patient and careful with liquid.

felt tip (smashbox) - make sure you are holding it horizontally.

gel (Tarte clay paint) - if you want a nice sharp wing then make sure you are using a thin precise brush, although you can use a angled also.

pencil (Loreal) - I don't recommend pencils for winged liner since you can't get any sharp wings with it but if you do make sure the pencil is always sharpened.

eyeshadow/ powder (any) - I would only use eyeshadow/ powder if you want smoked out winged liner.

I think you did a pretty good job! Get comfy and watch this, it's helped my friends😘 http://youtu.be/U5VRmQxLVmk.

I prefer using liquid to other styles of eyeliner because it's a lot easier for me, it's what I started off using too, however generally gel is the easier one to use for beginners! I highly suggest just taking it slow, and there are tons of YouTube videos that should help a lot!

If I just want to line the upper lash line or my water line I'll use my maybelline eyestudio gel liner but if I want to do winged liner I use this card. I just cute a triangle in a card (if you decide to make this go for something laminated or some sort of card you don't need anymore this way it can be cleaned without ripping) and I hold it against my eye and fill it in with the same gel liner

And then I use this to clean up and sharpen the liner.
