Personally, I would recommend a contour KIT as opposed to getting a single contour or highlighting item. With a contour kit, you would have a variety of what highlight or contour you'd like to go with that day. If I'm going out at night to a party or so I'd like to use a heavier contour to give myself a more dramatic look and in the day time, I'd go with a lighter contour.
If you'd prefer a powder consistency, I definitely recommend the Kat Von D Shade + Light contour palette (O M G) I love this palette. Only thing is, the colors are EXTREMELY pigmented so you have to be very careful with applying this because sometimes then can come on a bit heavy.
If you're into cream than I recommend the smash box contour stick trio. I love these cream sticks because they are so blendable and glide on so smoothly.
If you're just looking for one product without a kit I recommend the Becca Opal highlighter or the Laura Geller highlighter in gilded honey. The marylou manizer highlighter is so beautiful too. And for a bronzer the benefit hoola bronzer is my faaavorite bronzer.
Hope I helped! xx

For my soft contour days I use either my Nyx Contour Kit or my Nars Olympia. For heavier days I use Clinique Even Better Cream Foundations, I have 33 to choose from so. lol.
