Maybe this has been asked before but has anyone tried the month challenge or even more?
I am starting the challenge today because I miss my hair being healthy and long. It's curly and I've been using heat to straighten it for awhile now.
Any before and after pics?
Any suggestions?
Any warnings?
:) thanks!

A couple weeks ago marked one year without heat for me:) unfortunately, I don't have any pictures but I can definitely say my hair is a lot healthier. At first it will be wierd, but you just have to try different things and figure out what products and routine work best for you!

I guess I could list some products I like: my hair is wavy/curly and I really like the Organix line for shampoo and conditioner and also their Moroccan oil. Aussie 3 minute miracle conditioner is another favorite

I use heat as less as possible and I have definitely noticed a difference when I go a long time without it! I Highly recommend it :)

You can find non heated curlers at the mall at some hair stores where you take a shower put them in and keep them in over night.

I decided to go "heatless" on Feburary 4th (I've kept a hair log) and only have used heat 4 times. All for special/important events. But let's say I'm going for a night on the town, I'll do headband curls (my go to method) I suggest keeping a hair log, it's just so interesting, I put dates of when I got my hair cut (then include a picture of length) then write when I color it and use heat. Now I do blow dry my fringe area, but I also only wash my hair about twice a week. But for the summer I'm going to even stop that, until school starts again! Definitely do it and go for it!

Thanks for all the advice! I remember when I graduated high school that my hair was fried to no end and I left it from July to December in it's natural state which is curly. It grew so much so maybe it will work some magic again. It's harder now because I am much more aware to my hair and like it straight better but I'm giving all my heating tools to others who can keep them away. Keep fingers crossed that I can make. Think my hair will really appreciate a break!

Yeap! I keep all mine tucked away in my closet so they're such a pain to get that I don't want to use them!

In January I started using more natural hair products without any silicons. And I minimized using heat like a blow dryer or a straightener. I sometimes use my blow dryer, BUT I only do it if I really have to. And I think my hair got really healthy. There's no split ends or frizz. Naturally my hair is frizzy/wavy and since January it's an long shiny and healthy mane :) I really think it helps to use less heat and an better hair care.

I haven't used heat on my hair except maybe once or twice during the last 2 or so years and I didn't actually notice whether or not that helped contribute to how my hair now feels and it's texture (wavy) however I used to dye my hair very, very often and in the last 6 months or so of growing it out I've noticed a huge difference. Good products are always good for healthy hair :)

Day 2 of no heat and my hair has taken on a different life form haha. It's so voluminous that I might scare some people when going out. I'll have to figure out some short curly hairstyles that are easy to do so I can make it through this.
The coloring took a big hit on my hair last year. I'm letting my natural color grow out now! :)

My hair is dead straight so I use my G3 Salon Pro to curl my hair but they have an advice section on their website and I wondered whether this might be of help to you:

Let me know if it works for you.

Couldn't find the section. It kept bringing me back to the main site but thanks for the link! I do have one of those round all in one brush/blow dryers that has three settings..warm, hot and cool. I love it. I was using it just to give some umph to my bangs before. I guess if I ever am in a pinch I could use the cool setting because my hair tends to straighten out pretty fast. That's only if I really need it which I don't think I will. It's the third day now? It was a little harder this morning because I was in a rush but my method is take a shower and let it air dry in front of a fan haha. I'm not a big diffuser fan anymore even on the cool setting so I just put the fan on a low setting and wave my hair back and forth in front of it for about 20 and it does the trick. I am actually really excited for this. I think I have been overthinking it and kept telling myself that the straight hair looks better because that is what everyone seems to enjoy but I looked through old photos and I miss the long curls. All hair types are beautiful but I don't want to get stuck in one thing of frying my hair over and over. It's a whole summer of change (I hope) so why not give my hair some tlc too.
:)
