Hair dye emergency! Dark blonde went ginger!

So I had an ombré done and it was too high so my stylist toned it for me but the toner faded. I wanted the blonde lower on my hair and a bit darker so I used a natural dark blonde dye over the top parts of my hair (no bleach). I thought this would tone my blonde to darker but leave my brown in. However it lighted my whole top of my hair to a gingerlike blonde. I want it back brown. What colour should I be looking for to dye it? And should I use a semi vs a permanent dye since I'm doing it right after this dye job? Help please!

It doesn't look ginger to me, then again you said you couldn't capture it in the picture lol. I say go for a permanent dye since there wasn't any bleach used. Dye from ends to roots. Look for an ash dye since there are gingerlike tones, it'll cancel them out.

As a hairsylist I don't suggest you fix it yourself since your natural hair is lifted I suggest asking your stylist to use a level 7 or 8 natural color with added cool tones to cut the warmth
Permanent tho since your hair is lifted youll need a permanent color to redeposit or else it will keep rinsing out
Hope this helps

I ended up using a store bought light cool brown which toned it perfectly
