Super Dry Ends

My ends are super dry and I have no idea what to do. The problem started when I started using keratin products, but I've put a stop to that now. I only wash it two or three times a week, and I deep condition every other time I shampoo. I try not to use a lot of heat on it, and I just got it cut a week ago, so split ends aren't the culprit here. I'd love any suggestions on making them look healthy. My hair is naturally wavy, though the waves are very loose, and it's right in the middle between thick and fine if that helps at all.

It's pretty cheap too, depending on where you go, I've always seen it under 10 for a bottle that lasts me a while :)

How do you use it? Do you apply it to damp hair after washing?

I agree with Emily on the argon oil! and the reason your hair might have dried out with keratin is since it's a protein, and your hair is protein, you don't really need to use a lot of it, and sometimes when you over do it your hair can dry out! so try the argon oil, and maybe a leave in conditioner! coconut oil is great too!

Oils after showers to lock in moisture and moisturizing masks once or twice a week.
Keratin is a protein, and with hair you want balance of moisture and protein. Too much protein can cause the hair to loose moisture rapidly and snap off, causing the need for a huge hair cut.

You really can't repair your ends because they are essentially dead - and you cannot revive the dead (unfortunately) the best thing to do is cut your hair and prevent damage with the Argan oil or other moisturizing shampoos/conditioners - if you think about it your hair grows about half an inch to an inch every month and depending on how long your hair is - your ends have been there for years so trying to revive them really won't do you any good - anything you use may mask the damage but without the product you will see the damage is still there - prevention is key and getting regular trims to keep your roots healthy

With argon oil, I agree, I use it everyday on the ends of my hair. I'd suggest using it on days without heat, as putting oil before using heat is basically deep frying your hair, and if you have time slather it all over your hair before your shower. Then after the shower I'd put coconut oil on the ends of the hair. Coconut oil has no moisturizing properties but it does seal in the moisture in the hair already. So if you do it right after your shower, after a oil treatment with argon oil, it'll lock in that moisture. Again, don't use oils if you're going to use heat, or wait till the heat styling is done and apply to the ends. I'd also suggest using a moisturizing hair mask as your normal conditioner.

Diana - Solid advice but she just got it trimmed a week ago, so the split ends would be very minimal if existent at all at this point.

Maybe but split ends can split all the way up to the roots if the hair is damaged enough - so one trim (less than 4 inches) won't get them all in one cut - which is why regular trims are necessary - when my hair was chemically damaged with bleach I basically had to cut out all the bleach before my hair went back to being healthy and non-damaged so it may or may not be split ends or some other type of damage but either way damage is damage and the only way to get rid of it is to cut it off and start new from the root and that takes time to get healthy hair again from my personal experience.

I understand, and have had issues with it too, but her hair dresser would have informed her, and there's really no way to do anything about that other than shave it all off, unless your hair stylist dusts the entire hair shaft, not just the end. Which they should be doing but most don't, but in this case the dryness is caused by too much protein, I've witnessed it a lot and most of the time it'll be taken care of in a few weeks with some moisturizing masks.
I have extremely bleached hair, its white blonde, and my stylist before knowing my hair (I have very strong hair due to genetics - having excess keratin in my body) and the first time I saw her she sprayed a heat protectent with keratin in it and my hair visibly was dryer and crunchy after finishing the cut. She asked me if I was allergic to it and I said no, as I had no idea what was going on. And we started discussing and she was like "your hair should be ready to break off, I was trying to make sure the protein wasnt gone but it reacted like there's too much protein" and we figured it out, since I have kp it's excess in my body, so mixed with thick hair genes I have a lot of protein in my hair. She did a moisturizing mask and after another wash with a heavy mask it was back to normal. But no split ends that were due to it.
