Macs old vs new packaging🙊

So I want to know your guys opinions on the new Mac packaging, If you guys like it better than the old one or if the old one is still a winner! Pros and cons 😌

Do you have any examples of where the packaging has changed?

I don't buy too much mac really (only eyeshadows and lipsticks) but I haven't noticed a change in any of the packaging?

I didn't know they changed anything. But when I Googled it the only thing that came up was the skin finishes are different but that was from 2012, and the pigment jars changed in 2010.

Kristen - that's weird, we only have the "new" packaging in Canada. But we've had that for years, ad long as I've been looking at Mac stores. But it's only on the skin finishes.

Oh! That's been around a while, no wonder I thought they hadn't changed anything recently.

From feeling the new packaging (I don't own any) it feels a lot more robust to me and aesthetically, I think I like it more.

I believe the packaging change was mostly due to someone stealing their plastic mold and counterfeit Mac products got to close to the original, people could only tell by the sticker.
I know that's half the reason they changed the pigment containers back in 2010. That was when they were still being manufactured in Ontario. Someone broke into the factory and replicated the mold exactly, then started selling fakes online out of the same area, claiming to be buying in bulk from the factory. I remember hearing about it on the news and thinking it was so much work for a tiny bit of money. They did get caught and shut down very quickly too.

I definitely agree with you Jacqueline, but you should be aware of the packaging changing if you buy anywhere else but the main source.
I went to a garage sale last weekend and there was a huge box of Mac makeup, most of it still sealed, but they were square packaged. The lady said she bought a box load off eBay and hadnt used the brand before but wanted to get into makeup (and ended up hating it) in bulk rather than buying one of everything alone, she paid 200$ for nearly 100 fake Mac products. Luckily when I told her she said she hardly used anything, and she threw them away. But she looked almost sick when I told her they were fake and that they could be dangerous because you don't know what's in the ingredients. She had heard of the brand but never saw them before.

But If I was ordering off another site that sells Mac for whatever reason, and saw the new packages without knowing them, I'd assume they were fake since they don't look like the normal Mac products.

Oh definitely! And I do the same. But I know Mac doesn't ship everywhere so people buy from small shops that host swap type events, eBay or fb pages.
Just good to be aware, just in case. :)

I like the old packaging, I don't like how the new one looks, kinda looks cheap to me.
Reminds me of revlon or something.
When you have multiple skin finish natural,
It was easier when the top was clear, now I have to go through and either open them or check the shade
