I have these dry patches leftover from an allergy rash. I use moisturiser and face masks, but to no avail. How can I get rid of these nasty flakes? Thank you!

Do you exfoliate?

Hey again! Are the patches on your face? I wouldn't suggest face masks or lots of moisturiser as they're probably irritating the rash further because of chemicals in them and stuff. Do you know what they allergy was from? See if there are specialised creams to help or use only brands like simple with no perfume etc.in them.

DONT EXFOLIATE THEM, not yet anyways. I suffer from dry patches literally everywhere because of my naturally dry skin mixed with the weather conditions where I live. Try buying some Rose Bud salve, I get mine at bath and body works and it's fairly cheap about eight dollars a tin. Apply this on your dry patches multiple times a day to keep them moisturized, any dead skin will flake of regardless but exfoliating dry patches can just irritate them and make them worse, and a lot of times you will end up scrubbing skin off that wasn't ready leading to scanning

Brittany, I have oily skin and dry patches and exfoliating helps me TONS.
it doesn't "irritate them and make it worse" it makes it way better for me.
so what works for some people may not work for you.
in this case exfoliating helps me A LOT with my super dry patches.
I live in Houston, Texas which has the most bipolar weather ever.
it's literally hot and sunny one day, cold and rainy the next.

I live in Canada where it's constantly cold and DRY, I also snowboard/wakeboard which means my dry skin is constantly exposed to cold dry winds. I suffer from a lot of dryness, dry patches, skin cracking, eczema etc.etc.Etc and have practically mastered it lol! In case you didn't read what I said properly I'll clarify. "Don't exfoliate them, not yet anyways" if you exfoliate your dry patches while at its dryest point it is all more fragile and susceptible to falling off prematurely. This WILL irritate your dry spots, because you are ripping off skin or even pieces of skin that is not ready to leave that area and will cause scabbing, irritation and in most cases just make your dry spots flake even worse. Moisturizing is good, but using something more heavy duty to coat the area first will allow the skin to recooperate and it will be like you are exfoliating normal, healthy skin.

I had horrible dry patches left over from eczema and I just exfoliated them nightly then applied coconut oil to them and they went away in like 2 days.
