Highlights in Brown Hair... Opinions?

I am wanting to go from Brown to Blonde hair and to do that I will need to have nightlight to gradually make it lighter... I have never really liked the whole dark hair with highlights though, I just feel it looks slightly odd... I was wondering what your guys thoughts are on it??

It usually looks good it it's built with a few shades. like caramel, light brown and blond. but if it's done correctly thin blonde highlights can look really good as well.

Not my thing, I personally don't like the contrast. But if you like it, go for it!
