Lip augmentation? Or lip fillers.

I've been looking a lot into lip injections lately, I know there's different more "permanent" injections but I've also heard of Juvaderm being used as temporary fillers. What's the regular price for each of these? And does anyone have their own experiences they're willing to share? Thoughts on lip injections in general would be nice as well.

I have a friend that gets a lip filler every summer. I believe that's what it is. The temporary ones right? I wish I had photos to share but I'd feel weird lol. But she looks good with them, she only gets a tiny bit done, because she has smallish lips but doesn't want huge lips that would look off with her face. But she's been doing it for 4-5 years now and loves it. It goes away in about a year for her, sometimes there'd be a little bit of plumpness still there so for a few months she'd have a bit plumper lips than originally planned but it still looks good. The only suggestion I have is talk to a few professionals that do them, and see what they think. I know some of them have programs that will show you how it'll look on you. Every time my friend gets hers done she posts a photo to Facebook of the doctors 3d image of her with plumper lips lol. That and don't push on them too much. She told me when she got one done, there was a girl in the waiting room because she had played with her lips, like pushing on them and squeezing them because they felt weird to her or whatever, and she caused little indents in her lips. My friend had never had that happen but I do remember her telling me about the girl in the waiting room lol.

Hmmmmmmm thanks for the info Alyx! I think once a year is more than reasonable:) this may seem like a dumb question but if you can't push on them much does she have a problem kissing or being intimate?

Not that I know of! She has a boyfriend and they've been together for years. I've seen her give him kisses without any caution to it. But I think the girl was just constantly playing with them, I don't really remember the details of it but if I remember correctly she went pretty big really quickly. So it was like going from an a cup to a double d cup in one day, and so she just kept constantly playing with it. But my friend plays contact football in the summer and hockey in the winter so as she's definitely not super careful with her lips. I've seen her get hit with a football in the face a few times and her lips weren't different after (though once she broke her nose lol). It's never been a problem that I know of for her. I hope this is all helpful, I've never researched the processes or anything but I do know a little but from my friend.

Thanks for the info Alyx! It's just so much money and I definitely want to be SURE before I do it

Hm that sounds like a good option too! Thanks Debbie!

I've seen some great results with injectables and I've seen some scary one's too. Debbie mentioned something absolutely scary...doctors saving syringes to save a customer money. The chances of contamination is high once you exceed the six month mark on the product and the manufacturer frowns upon such practices. People make mistakes so just imagine receiving someone elses syringe. And the product itself is only sterile until you open it and after that its no longer the case. If a doc suggests that they can save leftover injections for you past 6 months I would go elsewhere. An experienced doc is able to estimate how much filler you will need before injecting in the face...anyone that isn't will suggest saving product because they aren't truly clear themselves. In regards to price it depends on where you are located in the US.

I'm in Canada actually! Google isn't helping too much lol! But yeah that does make perfect sense

Brittany I texted my friend, also Canadian, we're in Alberta, and she paid 180$ in Calgary, but because she returns every year they give her a returning customer discount so it's now 140$. She really likes the doctor there and said she went to 5 different ones before she found this one, and felt immediately comfortable with the doctor at this one. Which is why we live in Edmonton and she goes to Calgary for it lol. She doesn't get a set amount, she was saying she does about a third of a syringe, then the Dr will let her look in the mirror, they tell her to take swelling into account, and then she says more if she wants it. She was saying that if she has any left in her lips she will only do a little more than a third, but if it's all gone she'll do half if not a bit more. They never offer to save syringes, I'm almost positive that's against health codes in Canada.

I'm in Edmonton too! I wouldn't mind driving to Calgary though if you can get the name of her doctor. Sorry for bothering you so much LOL.

180 seems more than reasonable

I pay around $450. Don't use the "cheapest" doctor. I did, and this is what I ended up with

My lips are really swollen on this picture, but basically the "juvederm" (I found out that the doctor did not use juvederm as she claimed, but some unknown fluid or whatever) turned into stone hard lumps, I went to a different doctor to get it out, and it was the most painful experience ever.

So please do a background check before any injections.

This is what the lumps looked like. Painful and straight up awful to look at :(

OH MY GOD! I'm sooo sorry you had to experience that Thea! I'm for sure going to check lots and lots of reviews
