Recently I retouched my hair and went a lot lighter but something was funky and the toner kept pulling a dark brown so I decided to just do bleach and hope it didn't turn orange (which it didn't). Although I've been bleaching my hair for a while, this is the first time it's ever actually been damaged and dry. Any tips or pointers? I.

I would leave a hair mask in over night or a condition either the Aussie miracle conditioner which is great or Argan oil cream I have an Argan oil hair mask cream and it's amazing for my dry damaged hair goodluck.

My only advice is don't brush your blonde parts while they're wet unless it's with a wide toothed comb. Does your hair feel elastic like when it's wet at all? That's when you know you've chemically damaged your hair beyond repairing with products and you'd need to get a trim. However, if it isn't at that point yet and just feels a little scrunchy and drier then you'd like I'd suggest using hair oils like argan oil and moisturising hair masks and treatments will be the best thing for your hair at the moment. :)

Go as long as you can in between washes. Like if you're not going anywhere, don't wash your hair. Let it get super greasy and brush through it, distributing the oils. Also, add oils. But not before using heat. It should be the last thing you do. I like to apply argon oil after I get out of the shower but I don't use heat. If you use heat on top of oil it's like deep frying your hair. I also like to once a month (but I only wash my hair aboyt 5-6 times a month so I'd do it more if you do more frequently) I like to slather my hair in olive oil. You could use coconut oil but it solidifies at room temperature so if you don't live somewhere that's hot all year round it can clog pipes really fast and it's hard and expensive to fix, so I only use it in the summer when I can wash with the hose outside. But I slather my hair in olive oil, and put an old shirt around my head, and go to sleep. Then I wait as long as I can to wash it out and afterwards your hair will feel much softer, and it'll be moisturized and nice. I also always use hair masks in the shower, instead of just conditioner I will use a mask too. I bleach my hair lots, and I don't generally get much damage but this is how I keep it healthy.

Really start to treat you hair, moisturizer I great for after showers and try to use products when curling or straightening. Masks are amazing also and I suggest them to calm the scalp. The first couple of days your scalp will be numb but after a bit of tender love and care you should be alright. If you do start to notice something not right about your hair then go to a salon and ask, seriously when using bleach nothing is a stupid question. ;)

I really like garnier fructiss (sp) smoothing milk. Not saying it's a cure all but it's like lotioning your hair. You don't need to use much but I like how it feels. I use it on my ends when I'm not using their oil elixir.

Ughhh rubbery hair lol, you done messed up at that point. It's always the worst feeling when I got to that point in my earlier days of going hair crazy with zero research.

Warm up some natural coconut oil and while it's still in a liquid state put it all over your hair from root to tip. Keep it in for half an hour and then wash it out with some shampoo and conditioner. Coconut oil is an oil that gets deeply penetrated into the hair follicles and it's is very nourishing and moisturising in order to protect your hair from splitting or snapping. But make sure to wash it out otherwise your hair will stay oily until you do so.

Only do this maybe once a week and try not to wash your hair very often because your hai will be so dry from the bleach that it needs it's natural oils in order to repair and nourish your hair strands I advise washing your hair once a week. But if your hair get oily often try 2 times a week. Shampoo twice each of these times and that's it.

Alyx, that's a good point about coconut oil in your pipes... I just braided a handful into my hair this morning and left it in for a few hours before I washed and conditioned. I will use olive oil from now on though:)

Allison, not many people are aware. They understand its solid at room temperature but don't think of the pipes. It's like grease though, once it hardens it's incredibly difficult to remove. I unfortunately, living in Canada where 75% of the year is cold learned the hard way. My bathroom sink needs to have a chemical grease remover in it for 24 hours every month or it clogs and doesn't drain, from washing my hands after using coconut oil on my hair and as a sealant for my body. We could pay to replace the pipes but it's expensive as eff. So spending 10$ a month on a grease remover isn't as convient, but it's cheaper than spending hundreds on riping the bathroom sink apart and paying a plumber. Fortunately it didn't happen to my shower, but it could if you use it to often.
