Need ideas from simple prom hair and make up!

My dress is black and is one shoulder. I really would prefer my hair down, but I don't know what to do. Make up wise I wear a lot a lot of mascara and like full coverage but am scared to do a harsh smokey eye. Any options and suggestions?

I recommend that you do a bright red lipstick look to show off the dress and go for the smokey eye. And I also recommend that you curl your hair and put it to the side.
