I have oily/combination skin and I'm continuously looking for a foundation that will last longer than an hour without looking shiny. I used to use Chanel Mat Lumiere until it was discontinued in the UK and that was about the best foundation I've used. I'm now using MAC Studio Fix Fluid and it's OK but I can't say that I'm thrilled with it.
I've heard great things about ELDW so I thought I would give it a try. I went to the Estee Lauder counter, got matched up and was given a sample. I tried it last night and as I began applying it I was thinking that there was no way the coverage was going to be full enough. The consistency seemed too thin and it just didn't look that good. However, as I continued to apply it I noticed that it almost adjusted on my skin and it appeared to cover my blemishes quite well! I then set it with powder. Now when I looked at it in a bright light I wasn't sure about the way it looked but once it settled on my skin it wasn't bad. Anyway the main point is that this foundation didn't do anything for me in terms of oil control or staying power. So am I doing something wrong or is there anything you recommend I do? I didn't use a primer because with my oily skin I haven't found one that has actually benefited me. I just used a moisturizer. Is this foundation going to be like the countless others and just not work on my stupid, oily skin? Any recommendations on other foundations that might work?
Sorry for the essay, by the way!

I would suggest trying a primer. Estée Lauder double wear is one of my favorite foundations. It is a water based foundation so you should try a water based primer. I love tartes flawless primer, you can also try Laura merciers, urban decay complexion one and nars oil free primer.

Thanks, Brittany. I will look into trying out some different primers! Hopefully I'll find one that works for me.

I have very oily skin as well. I have always had a problem with shine and my oily fsce eating my foundation. UD naked skin foundation has been a god send for me. truly. even when my skin starts tonget oily it doesnt get very shiny and it doesn't cause any extra oil like some others do. It's also beautiful on.

Is the UD Naked Skin Foundation quite a light coverage though? I need something more full as I suffer from acne.

I use the ELDW Light formula and it offers GREAT coverage, just not as heavy as the regular formula. ( I didn't color match with the regular formula ) I have problem skin, and it covered my spots perfectly. I actually take MAC Studio Fix Powder (which yes, I know, is a foundation) to set my foundation but this honestly lasts me the entire day. I had used Revlon Colorstay, but I was constantly having to touch up my t-zone. I only moisturize, no primer, and this lasts! This foundation & powder are my holy grail products right now! Glad to have found another ELDW girl :)

Thanks for the input! I will definitely take everything into consideration. And Brittany I live in the UK and unfortunately we don't have Sephora :( I am going to see if I can pick up some samples though, hopefully I can!

Try mac prolong wear foundation or matchmaster, both amazing on an oily skin and both have a long wear claim! Prolong wear at 15 hours and matchmaster at 8...I need a good cleanser to remove my makeup at the end of the day!

I was going to try pro longwear but as it is a super matte foundation I was told that it wouldn't be any good for me as I also get dry skin in some areas. Ah! I swear I have the worst type of skin!
