Pay lots of attention to your hands ! Moisturize regularly, exfoliate sometimes, etc. (: Happy Hands equal Happy Nails . In addition to that use a cuticle oil and cream, a hardener and if you want them to grow really fast take biotin or hair and nail supplements(:

To make your natural nails look more like acrylics, you can take a white pencil and color underneath (they make pencils specifically for this purpose...you can find these at any walgreens). Alternatively, Essie makes a nail whitening product. If you'd prefer natural remedies you can soak your nails in a nice slushy mixture of about 2 parts hydrogen peroxide to 1 part baking soda.
I also second the moisturizing and nail strengtheners.
