*So why I'm saying that I think a thigh gap is a trend.

@Rissy L. I'm sorry if you or others find categorizing a thigh gap as a beauty trend offensive, its not my intention to offend anyone. I'm not familiar with body dysmorphia or what they think an achievement for their weight is.

I think this sort of topic in general is very subjective to the individual and what they consider to be a beauty trend or not. To be beautiful some women think that a fuller brow, huge lips, tan skin, obvious fake eye lashes, high cheek bones, and many other things is required and they will do things to try and get that look. These are all standards set by models and the beauty industry. All these things cycle with time too because big brows were in then it was skinny arched ones then back to full brows, things trend, meaning what's the fashionable, popular thing to do/have at the moment. That goes for the rest of the body too including thighs. Hec, the "in" thing right now is to have is a big butt and women are doing a 100 squats a day to try and get that look. There are workouts on pintrest specifically just for the rear end. I would define that as a beauty trend because thats the popular, fashoinable thing to have and a lot of women are trying to get to make themselves more beautiful. Who knows, In a year or so having really small boobs will be the fashoinable thing to have and women will go and do things to make their boobs look smaller.

So when I'm saying that a thigh gap is a trend its because lately on youtube, pinterest, t.v. I have seen a sudden influx of a lot young girls saying they want that and trying to get it. I have never seen so many girls trying for that or even considering a thigh gap to be something thats beautiful or desireable. When I was in middle school I never heard girls talk about wanting a thigh gap. And I wish it would stop because it really isnt achievable and still to be healthy. The only way to have that (in my opinion) is if someones body is built that way to begin with. So, I do consider having a thigh gap as a beauty trend because its the fashoinable thing for some to have, like having a big butt is the desireable thing to have too.

I don't know if its a trend, but it wasnt so used like a decade ago,but now I see it a lot...I'm talking about strong blush... To me,face products(foudation, highlight, contour etc) should mimic the "perfected" skin look, not a "look I colored my face" look...so using a lot of blush, especially in bright colors like cold toned hot pink for example, looks just odd to me and very obvious...

I have to go with contour because who honestly has time to contour their everyday face. I feel it's to much unless your going some place special or your going to be taking pictures. I'm over it. lol.

Almost embarrassed to say this but when the whole Patrick Star trend first came out I was the sad few who seriously thought everyone was basing their make up off of Sponge-bob, lol.

I feel like most make up trends are just bought off of drag queen make-up! Most of these things are done to look more feminine, no need to do it if you're a female (unless you want to).

One thing I'm tired of seeing is just girls on YT slapping on ten different products when they could've achieved it in one step. I've seen some ladies add a tinted primer... a BB cream.. a full coverage foundation, then a full coverage concealer 10 shades lighter on one top of their face as a highlight and one 10 shades darker on the other half (completing defeating the purpose of even applying a base, really. )

I just hope some of these YouTube girls have really good facialist's...

I agree with most of the stuff here, but I would just like to kindly point out to alura that the concept of a thigh gap isnt really a beauty trend. Its more commonly a side effect of hugely socialized norms on girls to fit the standards set by models, or, more frequently, a part of an eating disorder. many girls (and boys) with EDs suffer from body dysmorphia, and frequently think a thigh gap is proof of weight loss and still won't see the gap long after becoming under weight. I dislike the way you phrasing it as a 'trend' because I believe its offensive to many people who suffer from eating disorders by diminishing it to something similarly as petty as a fake tan.

I don't like the overdrawn lips at all. Not only does it look really weird, even my husband says it looks like a duck... But women who already has full lips do it too! Why?!

I have no clue what INSTAGRAM brows are lol

Hmmm pretty much everything you ladies have already said but one thing that has drived me nuts is the "thigh gap." All these middle school age girls are going crazy saying they want a two inch space between their thighs when standing straight with feet together. One has to be extremely skinny, but really most ladies arent.

I personally love to h&c and wear false lashes on more days than just special occasions but I do agree it's done wrong way too often and looks horrible! Same with overdrawn lips, I enjoy doing it & think it looks good when done right but sucking on a shot glass to achieve the look, I can't stand. I guess I don't have many because I don't really care that much what other people do with their own bodies and if they feel beautiful more power to them. I do spray tan myself and I'm a spray tan tech as well so don't have any problem with spray tans, I personally don't like a fake looking tan which is why I pride myself on the application and products used. I'm constantly not believed I have a spray tan on it looks so natural. I am all for plastic surgery as long as you do it for you & also understand botox before prominent wrinkles for preventative measures.

I absoulety HATE fake/spray tans. Long sharpie & Instagram brows, kylie Jenner lip challenge, orange contour, too bright highlights, over lined lips.
and Nikkie n, you know Patrick star isn't a Instagram make up guru? he makes YouTube videos, and he has a Instagram. that doesn't mean he's a insta makeup guru just because he has a Instagram lol

Highlighted to the Max with no real reasoning,Capuchin Realness needs to go! I miss just pretty makeup.Another trend that needs to stop are all these made up makeup techniques people keep spreading.

For me, personally I'm not the biggest fan of colored eye shadow. It's beautiful don't get me wrong, but for an everyday look... Heckzz No! Give it a rest already. Infact;

Grey dyed hair I'm over it
.
.
.
any dyed colored hair... I'm over it
halo brows... over it
henna tattoos.. over it
stiletto nails... over it

all these instagram boutiques... over it
popular instagram make up gurus...(amrezy, makeupshayla, patrickstarr) over it

Wow I seriously worked up a headache , just typing this lol I actually miss when, less was more.

I don't mean to beat a dead horse but I seriously despise the sephora contour picture that hangs in all the doorways. People think the contour and highlight shades should actually be that light or dark. Ugh stop people!!

Sam - YES. I honestly think that granny hair looks really nice on some people, but it just confuses me so much. We're all going to go gray eventually, I'd rather not do it prematurely! But to each their own I guess.
