Heya! I'd like to up my makeup game, make it a bit more summery, and I was thinking about contouring to add more dimension and make my blush more effective and that sort of thing. But, I want it to be very subtle and I would really rather not fork out on a contour kit. So I was wondering what you ladies think I could try instead? Any ideas are welcome ☺️ thank you all!!

A powder a few shades darker than your skin tone. I would suggest the loreal true match powder.

Also for highlights a powder a few shade lighter

You can use a cool toned foundation that is 1-2 shades darker than your skin tone for the contour and one that is 1-2 shades lighter for the highlight - but be careful not to follow YouTube tutorials since contouring is specific to your face shape

Heard NYX blush in taupe is a good contouring product. Their blushes are $5 :-)

NYX even came out with highlight & contour singles, you can also make a "pro palette" as well. Those are $5, too. (The singles)

I've never used this product but I'm going to get it this weekend to compare to the Kevyn Aucoin sculpting. It's wet n wild contouring palette it's $3.29 doesn't hurt to try it out and see if it's up to par. As far as I've compared Nyx blush in taupe wasn't worth comparison in my opinion, the color was way off.lifting the cheek area can just be done by building up with two blushes of similar color just one is a bit deeper.

^please don't use bronzer to contour... It won't look natural at all and will end up looking muddy - watch Jordan liberty's YouTube video on "why you shouldn't use bronzer to contour" he provides photos that show exactly why and there is a big difference between bronzer and a cool toned contour color.

Thank you for clarifying Alma :)

The NYX Taupe blush definitely isn't a "dupe" for the Kevyn Aucoin sculpting powder but it does get the job done and I really like it. Also, bronzers do not contour.

I may be too late on this one but, I've bought super cheap concealer sticks meant for women of color and used that as a contour. It works great in the stick form because it's so easily applied. Any shimmery eyeshadow you have can serve as a highlighter. Well not any shadow obviously a light shad shadow. Oh and I second the girl above who advised not to use bronzer to contour, I definitely wouldn't do that myself. Hope you find what you need and post pics of the looks you make! 😊👍
