Nars light reflecting setting powder, to be honest, I don't think it changes the look of a foundation at all, doesn't make it more luminous and doesn't make it more matte, usually. It just controls oil and sets the foundation to get rid of the tackiness - love it!

What are you using to apply your powder? Also, what kind of powder are you currently using?

I have to agree with Rebecca, I really enjoy the nars reflecting powder in its loose form, used with a very light hand. It looks beautiful. Jacqueline recommend it to me, I really love it.

Mufe's hd powder is a dream to work with. I apply it with a puff using the 'taco' technique (:

Translucent powder since it's so finely milled it hardly looks powdery unless of course you use it to set makeup that is far too "wet"; not set right. & if you use too much, which is a given with any powder product.

Completely agree with you Shelley.

You can also use a setting spray to take away the powdery finish.

I rotate amongst several powders...Bobbi Brown Retouching powder, Hourglass Ambient powder in dim light, By Terry Hyaluronic Hydra powder. I only apply in my t-zone versus all over because I don't apply my entire face with foundation. I use either a fan brush or a disposable puff and I always go in with very lil product so I can build it up to my desired finish instead of going in heavy handed.

@Shelly how do you use the ambient lighting powder? all over your face or just as highlight?

Shelley* sorry

@Jocelyne...I only use it in my t-zone and dim light has no shimmer so that's how I get away with using it that way. The other shades...yes...they are true highlighters and not something I'd personally apply all over.

I use Cinema Secrets loose powder. I JUST got it in two days ago- I ordered it at the suggestion of my academy instructor after I got a job offer on a TV set. I was freaking out trying to make sure I got the right powder that wouldn't reflect and she told me she uses Cinema Secrets for photography and NY Fashion Week. Hey, if it works for all that then it can work for lil old me! I'll let yall know how the product works once I've played with it some.

Oh, and I LOVE a light dusting of Laura Mercier's invisible powder but only if I'm not taking any pictures. It's beautiful in person but it will give the Casper effect on film.

I use stay matte as well, with an elf brush and it doesn't look powdery on my face at all.

All powder will look obvious on your face unless you only apply a small amount all over - and/or if you set it with a setting spray - so try using a setting spray over your powder to see if that helps and also try using less of the powder.
