Do you think if I use a bleach on the yellowy bits at the back it will go platinum/pale blonde? My mum also has a platinum blonde dye kit, don't know if that would work better?

I don't know hun, everyone's hair act so definitely! And I would think a platinum hair dye kit is just bleach as well..

I used the platinum dye/bleach and it went a more even blone, I then used the silver dye but left it on for a good hour and 10-20 minutes and it made it a nice white blonde on top and the sides but some bits on the side and back have some yellow in them(I think I'll just use the shampoo to slowly take the yellow out) it's not really the colour I was hoping for, but its good enough for now :P I think I'll let my hair rest for a good while and perhaps go to a professional next time, because you really need to know what you're doing to achieve this hair colour.

Yes actually silver is also impossible to achieve, but the shampoo can get you a good amount of the way! And I think the result is really good! I think a night with the shampoo will do wonders!

And your very welcome sweetie, if you ever have a question feel free to contact me on my profile :)

Hey guys, I've finally reached grey! I thought I'd show you the final look and tell you what products I used. First of all, grey is the most difficult colour to achieve and I almost wish I didn't try in the first place :P the products I ended up using are:

Bleach x 2 (one was a DIRECTIONS HAIR LIGHTENING KIT 30 VOL and another was a Wella hair lightening bleach from Asda)
Silver Shampoo (L'ORÉAL PROFESSIONNEL SÉRIE EXPERT SILVER )
Silver Dye x 3 (Directions Silver Toner)
Platinum Dye (I guess you could considering this as a bleach)
Lightest Blonde Ash Dye

A little disclaimer before I go on: In no way am I saying these products are the products you should use to turn your hair silver, I'm simply stating they are the products I used. Also I used them all in the space of about 2-3 weeks total, which I strongly advice against, unless you want your head to fall off, because that is likely to happen :).

Okay so this is the order in which I used to products: (Also I realize I did this all in a jumbled order and used more products than needed)

1st bleach (hair went an uneven yellow with ginger on the back and sides) - I learned afterwards to apply from the back to the front when applying bleach

1st silver dye (all it did was tone down the yellows)

2nd silver dye(still wasn't toned enough or maybe it's because I used it too soon after bleaching)

literally used a third of the silver shampoo bottle(I left this on for a total of like 10 hours (no kidding) I STRONGLY advice against leaving this on for more than 10 minutes, not only did it stain my scalp but it burnt my skin, and my skin looked visibly burned for a week, not to mention I could of had a reaction to it. (at this stage is was half grey/silver, half yellow, the silver shampoo is strong but it won't turn all your hair silver unless you left it on for a extremely long time which I advise against because like I said your scalp will turn purple.

After realizing the shampoo wouldn't be enough, I then used a platinum dye (bleach) to even out the colour and turn it a uniform pale blonde.

I finally used a Lightest Blonde Ash Dye then used the third and final Silver Dye which turned it Grey/Silver.

This whole process was a bit of a mess to say the least, I went into it completely unprepared and knowing very little about bleaches/toners/dyes. I really advise going to a trusted professional if you want to achieve silver/grey because it is a really difficult colour to achieve if you don't know what you're doing. I'm pretty surprised my hair is still attached to my head to be honest and in relatively good condition. Moral of the story is: go to a TRUSTED HAIRDRESSER :P it's just too difficult to attempt on your own and you really don't want the hassle of having to deal with it all. I ended up spending about £50, which is probably cheaper than a hairdresser, but I would of gladly paid more if it saved me the past 2 weeks of what I put my hair through.

(edit): oh and thanks to everyone who gave me advice and tried to help me, I appreciate it :)
