I recently started contouring my face, and I wasn't sure if I was doing it right. here's my routine.

I use a duo stick for contouring and highlighting to start I cover my face and then use my beauty blender to blend then I put on my liquid foundation and after I put my compact powder foundation.

is there a way that I should try and get better results? anything would help, thanks!

There are many ways to contour. What you're doing I believe is called "reverse contouring". What products do you use? Do you have a picture of the results? It would be very helpful :)
One important thing is that you use a cool toned contour color.
Check out gossmakeupartist on YouTube, he's got great tips on contouring and highlighting.

If you aren't seeing the results you'd like, you could try lightly going over your contours and highlights, after your regular routine, with a products like Nars contouring blush duo just to kind of revamp what could have been dulled out. Just a suggestion.

Definitely do foundation first and then contour and highlight then powder the areas that don't have contour
