I prefer gel over both, but I like the Milani liquid like pencil and retractables.

I personally am not a fan of retractable pencils because I find there's much less color pay off. I can never get them on my waterline. but that may just be me?

It depends on the brand tbh. Some brands have retractable down to a science, and others have better sharpenable pencils.

No it's literally called liquid eye liquid like eyeliner lol it's in both retractable and pencil form.

I choose pencils for all the reasons listed above and also because retractables are so thin and I've broken some in the past and its hard to use after.

Retractable. Like Sandra said you throw away the sharpenings The ultimate is when you can sharpen the retractable, so you can keep a sharp line. Still I've had the same almay retractable eye liner for like five years. I don't use it every day, obvi, but I like that it doesn't tug on my crepey lids like a pencil.
