Hey! Oil based foundations usually contain mineral oil as one of their first ingredients. Silicone based foundations usually contain dimethicone or cyclomethicone. Water based foundations usually contain aqua as one of their first ingredients but will also contain some silicones.
I am also acne prone combo-oily, and even combo-dry in the winter and I will recommend the water based or silicone based foundations. They look more natural, blend easier, and they feel lightweight and cannot clog pores. I know some people will complain about silicone clogging skin, but it is impossible. The silicone molecules in all cosmetics are too large to sink into the skin, which is why you feel the smoothness on top of your skin after using a silicone primer. It is made and formulated to sit on top of the skin to smooth out texture, lock in moisture, or protect the skin from environmental irritants.
