I believe your piercer will answer any questions that you have.

I've had my tongue pieced, it is really hard to eat for the next day or two. and you get used to it being in your mouth so you can no longer feel it... And you can eat whatever you want x

Your tongue will be swollen for about a week or 2. You're not supposed to eat foods that have yeast in them including dairy and spicy or acidic foods. Also, eating pasta (spaghetti, fettuccine, angel hair, etc) was kinda of a pain for me because it would wrap around the bar lol

Your piercer will be able to answer all your questions, but as the ladies above stated, yes it will swell, ice and sleeping with your head elevated higher than your heart will help with that. Softer foods will be better tolerable while you're healing, I was recommended by my piercer to use Biotien to clean your mouth after eating, drinking anything other than water or smoking. I was scared too, I HATE needles, but I've had mine done for almost 8 years☺️

When you get your tongue pierced you suddenly understand how much you actually use you tongue to move your food towards your molars. I tilted my head for a few days hoping gravity would help :'D but from all piercings, tongue heals fastest. Healed in a week for me, never had any problems.

I've had my tongue done twice, honestly it doesn't swell up that bad, it's just like any other piercing, I can't even change my bar from the bar I got for the swelling because I have a fat tongue lol. Personally I ate scrambled eggs for the first couple of days, wasn't the best but it was easy to get down, you don't actually realise how much you use your tongue until it's pierced so be aware of that. Remember oral piercings are the fastest healing piercings because they're in your mouth, you still need to be careful of certain foods, particularly spicy and foods that're salty or hot because the heat will irritate the piercing. I'm pretty sure you need to wait at least 2-4 weeks before you can change the bar to a smaller one. Be careful with plastic coloured bars and balls If you're into those things because they tend to break in your mouth or if you accidentally bite your piercing which is inevitable with tongue piercings for the first week or two.

I have a large tongue and a small mouth, when I got my tongue done the swelling wasn't too bad. Lol I actually had pizza the day I got it done. The worst parts were the healing process ( gross stuff coming out of the piercing, it almost looked like puss), and the phantom hair that wrapped around the barbell and tickled my tongue ( that I couldn't find to get rid of).
