I bought some 5% glycolic acid cream. I'm using it at night like it says. this is my third night using it. I'm noticing that I'm breaking out. is this normal? also, can I use it under my eyes?

I've never had an issue with glycolic acid breaking me out, I think it's supposed to help breakouts if anything by exfoliation. I use the Vivite night cream that has 20%. It might be some other ingredient in it that is causing the issue. Does it list that it is non-comedogenic?

Do not use directly under your eyes. It will burn like the dickens! I would definitely not use every night...if this is your first time using glycolic acid I always tell people to start out using every other day and use a high spf for day as your skin will be quite sensitive since glycolic acid is an exfoliator. The breaking out is normal and it should subside within a week or two.

Glycolic acid can definitely cause breakouts , it's speeding up your cell turnover , and that if not done with a gentle hand will cause imflamation which leads to breakouts, like Shelley said if your just starting out using any chemical exfoliater you do not want to use it daily it's baby steps, your skin needs to adjust to the level of exfoliating slowly , so maybe every other day or a few times a week to start
