While we all love the creative outcomes that result from beauties who post pics of their creative work I must remind those who post selfies MUST include product details of what they used to achieve the look.
Taking pictures of products isn't going to fly and nor is "I used foundation from Maybelline, lipgloss from Milani..." We need to know what foundation formula from Maybelline and what lipgloss shade name from Milani. Some of the users have been great as giving the details for their posted looks and they are greatly appreciated as it creates a nice dialogue amongst everyone and its very helpful for those who may be curious about a particular product and actually seeing it in action.
When a post is created with just a selfie pic and no details then it just becomes an Instagram thread so to speak and that is not what this site is all about. I've seen way too many situations where one will post a pic and leave zero, zip, nada details and then people inquire with questions. The poster doesn't even bother to interact with those who gave praise/advice or answer the million dollar question;"What are the product details?"
Without those details your post will get lost into the Selfie mist. We encourage all to please add product use to help develop conversation since it's a Talk Forum, if you want to just post a picture of yourself it's best to just upload it to your personal profile so at least it will show up on the Picture Forum versus the TALK Forum. Periodically this topic will be brought up as a reminder as the site continues to grow and more people it discover it, so those who've been using BL for awhile please understand the random reminders aren't to nag or annoy anyone its just our way of alerting new and reminding existing members of the guidelines so the community can run efficiently.xxxx

THANK YOU! It is so bothersome when it's the same people, too!

Thanks for this Shelley. I've seen far too many selfie pictures on here with no mention of products used etc, it really irritates me. Hopefully we will see less of this from now on :)

Beautifully said, Shelley! It's important to remember that the purpose of Beautylish is to help each of its members become more adept with beauty products and techniques. While commentary like "you look so beautiful!" is welcome, recieving those comments is not what this site is about. We are all here to learn, improve and help. Selfie threads do not perpetuate that philosophy. Thanks so much for this thread, Shelley :)

I'm happy you brought this up, thank you Shelley! We've been seeing way too many "selfie" threads lately and we can all use a reminder! I have nothing to add :)

Ugh I wish we could control this in the photos section of the site:( I see these amazing photos and start lusting after a certain lip color or highlighter that looks like magic (which with photo editing I guess sometimes it is lol) but then want to cry knowing I will never know what product was used.

Thank you ladies. Hopefully there will be a decrease in the number of them but if need be periodic reminders will be doled out. I know that myself personally there were moments where my I would get my makeup done by someone and want to post but can't because I don't have the details and I don't want to "guess" by just listing what I THINK might have been used.
