Whenever I go to get my hair cut, they never get all the split ends, I have a few layers throughout my hair and they just cut the end of my hair and say they're done, even when I specify that I need the split ends off of my layers too. Why do they do that? It's been way more than just one person. Any suggestions on what to do or say?

You could always ask them to take off another inch or two.

I mean, when I get a haircut, I tell them I want a good four or five inches off to ensure that they get them cut! But they just can't manage to do it. I'm too scared to cut my own hair.

I would tell them at the beginning to get the split ends at the bottom of the hair and the layers. Maybe talk to someone and tell them they should get rid of the split ends on layers and that no ones been doing it. It's never happened to me, it's ridiculous that you have to ask though.

I have the same exact problem I tell him I don't care how short it is I just went all the split ends off and they never get them all off.

I'm with you girls lol since my hair grows out super uneven, haircutters cut it evenly, and since I don't want so much cut off, there's always some I find after I get home. Only suggestion I can give (which you might not like) is asking them to cut it shorter than a 'trim'

Thanks Riff, I'll try that but if it doesn't work, I guess I'll just have to deal. It's sad that they can't get them because I know it's achievable. They're just rushing for no reason.

I don't even ask for a trim when I go, I usually say I want four or so inches off and I want all of my spilt ends gone, that's the main thing.

I would tell them you either want a trim all over or to shorten/refresh your layers.

It might depend on the salon/hairstylist that is cutting your hair. When I go to my hairdresser and get a trim she really takes her time and is very very precise. I ask for a trim and show her how much I want cut and that she has to cut my layers too. Takes her about a good hour and 10 minutes usually. If you ask a good hairdresser to trim your hair AND your layers they should do it and do a good job and take the time!! Maybe ask around for a good salon?

Plus a good hairdresser should know how much to take off, what is "dead". So I don't know what they think they are doing?!😂
