I've been considering...ik about the side affects..I was wondering if any of you have been on it and had any pictures or opinions...also..do they still require bloodtests regularly? Thank you:)

Well Accutane, from my understanding, is an absolute last resort after anything and everything hasn't worked for you. It's more a dermatologists decision than your own if you go on it or not. Have you spoken to a dermatologist?

Well personally my friend is on it and it is working well for her except for the mood swings and the dryness of her skin. I myself was looking into it a bit and the only thing I find is it isn't a permanent solution for treating acne so when you stop using it your acne will come back. Personally I woudn't use it, as acne is a symptom of something usually like either lack of stomach acidity or an imbalance of some sort and just by using accutane dosen't solve the real problem it just stops the symptom of acne. I hope I made sense. And good luck❤️

My friend was on it in high school and the only side effect for her was drying lips, I don't know much else about it. However I believe the blood testing had something to do with making sure your not pregnant. I remember my friend mentioning this. Maybe it isn't safe to take it while pregnant is my guess. So they probably still do it.

It varies. For me, I took vitamin E so I didn't peel. I used cetaphil cream and vaseline for my lips. Keep in mind it's not just your skin that's going to be dry. I tore my cornea on accutane and would get 7 nosebleeds a day. I would literally lean over and it would start. Also, you don't just go on Accutane, you have to have a prescription and it's very expensive!! I do recommend it though. I wouldn't change going through it. Also, don't be discouraged in the first four months of the purging stage! It's definitely a commitment

And yes you have to do blood tests regularly and DO NOT take it while pregnancies. It can cause terrible defects :(

Also yes accutane is THE LAST resort. Talk to your derma, they'll probably give you and antibiotic and topical cream and a couple different ones after that if that doesn't work and accutane is the very last resort.

Also, my skin was clear for a few months after accutane, but it's coming back now. My acne is genetic and I may have to go on round 2. I even used absorbica which is accutane with a lipid coating to ensure its absorption.

The blood tests are not just for pregnancy, but for many other factors, such as your cholesterol, which rises while on accutane.

I was on accutane for less than a year in high school. Was seriously my last resort but was the only thing that worked for me. If you decide to do it you have to sign up for ipledge and every month you need blood tests.
