Hi beauties!! So I've been having some issue with my under eye concealer. My rotund includes washing my face, applying eye cream and then the concealer. However, when I apply the concealer it's so patchy and dry looking. it looks horrible. I've had to remove my eye makeup twice on different occasions because it just looked bad! And when I tried to fix it sometimes there would be parts where the concealer wouldn't even transfer to my skin. I use NARs radiant creamy concealer or MAC pro longwear. And it happens with either. I'm not sure what it could be! Help.

Are you letting the eye cream settle all the way in to your skin. You should wait a few minutes after applying creams/moisturizers before using makeup. I usually brush my teeth or do my hair while I wait.

Sometimes being a lil heavy handed with product will cause it to react that way. And what are you using to set it?

Mar 14, 2015

Ms L.

@Tiffany. Yes I wait a few. But this just recently started happening this month.

@Shelley. I don't think I'm being heavy handed. I mean it feels so patch and dry. I'm doing the same as I always did. And it just recently started. I either use Ben Nye banan powder or NARs crystal translucent powder.

It's like that as soon as I'm applying the concealer, and setting it doesn't make it better but not worst either. :(

Hmmmmm...what brush do you use to apply the listed powders?

My brain is truly stumped on this one. There are just too many variables as to why this could be happening. As crazy as it sounds sometimes our holy grails all of a sudden fail us because of changing skin conditions or after repeated use it just drys our skin out. Hopefully some other beauties will post their thoughts/advice. When I asked what brush you were using...maybe its picking up too much product thus giving you to dry, patchy appearance.

I had a similar problem. I was using the ROC 5in1 eye cream twice a day. I noticed my concealer started looking just as you described before I would even set it. Once I backed off of the eyecream twice daily and used it every other day only at night things got better. I believe the eye cream was making the area really dry even though it didn't look like it.

Is the eye cream a more recent addition? If you have been using the concealers for a long time and they've been fine maybe it's the eye cream? Or a combination w drier winter skin? You've prob already thought of all these.

@Shelly W. I use the Real Techniques setting brush. And tap it off before applying the powder. And I'm really hoping that did not happen with my HG concealers :(

@Ema. I'm using the Mario Badescu Hyaluronic eye cream, for about 2-3 months now. I use it in the am/pm. I have oily skin. Maybe I'll only use it at night and see what happens.

@Tiana. Yes I have :( and I'm hoping its winter dry skin and it will get better.

@Gen I have that brush and I'll try it. Hopefully it helps thanks!

If you are using an eye cream already, I would suggest trying the Smashbox Hydrating Under Eye primer. It adds suppleness to the under eye and makes everything much more blendable. I am oily, so I really do not need such product, but I have used it on dry skinned clients in the past, and it truly does the trick. Are you using a face primer? If so, what kind? Could be a simple skincare step that is flawed. Would like to know!

I agree with Sarah ^^ I use the smashbox hydrating under eye primer and it works great. Worth a look if nothing else works for you.

Hello Ms. L, I used to have the same problem I used both concelors that you mentioned and the Ben nye powder, I think is that the Ben nye powder because it Contains talc so that dehydrates your undereye make up making it look patchy and not cute, I don't know about the translucent powder from nars you should look at the ingredients and if it does have talc that maybe the problem. hope it helps

Maybe try a more moisturizing eye cream. I love the face shop's mango seed eye cream. it's cooling and hydrating but not heavy

@Sarah B. I'm oily as well but hey I'll try that eye primer. And I actually don't really use a primer in my under eye. I've never really had. I use it on my face but I don't place it all the way up to my under eye. And well I use a few different primers (too faced prime & Poreless, Porefressional, MUFE HD primer, Lorac mattifying primer, Hourglass mineral veil). Thanks for your help!

@Ivelisse. Really? But this happens even before I touch the ben nye. I feel it's my skin with the concealers. But I'll definitely try to use something else to see if that helps! Thanks!

Me and my mom had the same problem after using the - Mac pro longw/ I use it on and off now not everyday and I don't seem to have any problems. I figured it was my skin. Moisturize and prime

Maybe try something different for blending the concealer? I know that I found my concealer looked much better after I started blending with a damp beauty blender instead of a brush or my fingers.

I am oily but my undereyes get quite dry so I use a damp beauty blender for my concealer only. It helps a lot and I did used to use Nars it was fantastic!

UPDATE: ok ladies so I did my makeup today... And this time instead of applying the eye cream I applied cetaphil all over my face and including around my eyes. I waited about 7 minutes then applied my makeup and use my MAC pro longwear concealer and set it with NARS translucent powder. And it came out fine! It was dry or patchy. So I'm thinking it could be the eye cream I was using!! Thanks for all the help ladies! I'll keep ya updated if anything changes or I try something!!
