LOVE the essence liquid liner! The one with the black bottom and silver lid, it's about two dollars and probably the blackest liner I've ever applied and fairly easy to apply (though I am well experienced in that and don't normally find a problem with any application) plus it won't smudge all day! I've worn it over night (no not recommended, I was drunk) and it was still impressively in place when I woke up ;)

Nyc & almay liquid liners.
I use to use almay 24/7 until I started getting into gel eyeliners.
almay drys supper matte & black.
the nyc is good for being precise.

I had the nyc one and it burned my eyelids a little everyone always recommends it too I hate it because it's also hard to apply ): I never tried Almay liners only their concealers which work good so I'll try that too thanks(:

Rimmel scandal eyes liquid eye pen, or any Rimmel liquid liners (there's like 3 different ones). Super black and pretty smudge proof I think (I don't really have issues with that)
However, something that's really cheap yet effective is the Wet N Wild mega last liquid liner; smudge proof version is INSANE! It does not budge and is super matte. The ELF one is really good, too.

The Revlon Colorstay liquid liner is my favourite. It has a thin felt tip and it goes on really smooth. Also, it's super black and lasts all day. x

I love my NYC liquid liner but since you stated that it didn't work out for you then I would recommend the elf liquid liner! It's amazing as well :) ' but I don't know if it's still in stores or if it's just my stores that don't sell it in the color black.

Wet& wild megalast liquid liner I have like 4 backup right now because I go through them so fast lol its super easy to apply and drys matte my only complaint is that I wish it were a little more black sometimes it's not as dark and intense as I would like. I also love the Kat Von D tattoo liner in trooper,that one is super black and easy to apply since its felt tip...my only complaint is that mine isn't matte but I'm pretty sure they make one that it.
