Hairstyles ideas please help!

so my hair is auburn and it comes down to mid-way between my shoulder and elbow... it is thick and wavy too. I am going to have my hair cut next week and one thing I know for sure is that I want *short* layers cut in
but I want to have a change and was wondering if you guys could give me any ideas :)

p.s. I'm not really into the idea of dyeing my hair completely a different colour but I have no problem with dip-dye, highlights etc... just any colours/styles/cuts you think would look good
