Red hair makes you look more washed out. It depends on your undertones too. If you have cool under tones, then I would strongly not recommend red or auburn. Maybe it COULD work if you have warmer tones. If you really want to dye your hair, I would try a hazel brown(or just any lighter brown) or blonde. Not like bleach blond, just a natural looking blond would warm up your complexion !

Had exactly the same question at summer/autumn crossover last year.
I have dark brown hair and died in 'mahogany' (It was VERY auburn toned).
I loved it at first but after a week or two I wanted my hair back!!!
It completely depends on you!
Have a look around, ask hairdressers and friends!
