In the long run, I think both of those options are going to damage your nails even more. Acrylic makes them weak, and using the acetone to get the shellac off could damage it as well. Maybe you should try something like Nail Envy to help strengthen your natural nails because that may be your best bet.

Shellac is amazing! Causes no damage on your natural nail, unlike acrylic. Shellac can be expensive but it is so worth it! You can also use any nail polish you want and just put the shellac top coat over it and it works just as well. I use it every time I do my nails and they don't chip or break for weeks! :)

I do my own acrylics the last time I went and had th done I broke into a terrible rash. We though it was allergies so I was on prednisone and Benadryl 2 weeks. BENADRYL all day! Turns out my lovely mail tech have me a fungal infection :/
