It is very patchy, dry to the touch, makes the skin feel tight and it gets extremely itchy

It almost looks like a reaction to me. If you can, I'd take an antihistamine, and get a calming lotion. My favorite is the eucerin one. If it's itchy you can get a benadryl cream. If you really need something tonight, the shoppers on whyte ave is open 24 hours and has a very friendly overnight pharmaceutical staff. My skin is very sensitive and reacts to almost everything, so sometimes I need to make a 3am trip to shoppers. If you do, talk to the pharmacist, they'll be able to see it in person and suggest an over the counter item to help until you can seem your doctor. I do it quite a bit, especially in the summer because my doctor takes 3 week vacations lol, but they often help enough to almost not need a doctor's appointment, though you should still go anyway.
Personally when my skin gets like that, which is often and happened tonight as well, I have an oatmeal and green tea bath. But its not all over so you could just steep green tea, put some oatmeal in and apply it to your skin.

Definitely use hydrocortisone cream. I have eczema on my inner elbows and applying the cream twice a day until it clears up is my saving grace. Apply a lot at night and let it soak in. It should be a lot less dry right away :)

Try a really thick water based moisturizer thats what I use in the morning and before bed and it works wonders my ezcema is gone don't use oil because it heats the area up drying out the skin

I used to have the same exact thing! It's eczema. I know exactly how it feels. Itchy, dry, uncomfortable 😕 I talked to a dermatologist and he actually said that using fragrance is the worst think for your eczema. Although I was super upset that I had to give up my perfumes and shampoos, I started seeing my eczema improve. The key is to ALWAYS keep moisturized even if oils and lotions stay on for short term. I hope this helped. I hope your eczema gets better❤️

LOL yes Alyx I've definitely done a 3 am shoppers trip to whyte when I got the worst bladder infection 😩 and dammit I am the worst for having fragrant anything :( thanks so much ladies! I'll go talk to a local pharmacist cause the waiting time for a doctor is ridiculous!
