MAC makeup artists out there??

I was just curious...if any of you are make up artists for MAC, I was wondering how often do you work? Is it a full time job? Part time?
I want to get a new job and I love makeup so I thought about trying to apply at a store with a MAC section but I just don't know if I should or not.

Pretty sure any job base your hours off of experience and such. It really depends on location and management...If you do get the job, run by them that you would prefer full-time; they'll probably start you off at part time until they see what you'v got and how dependable you are..

I work at a pro store and the minimum requirement for a pt or ft position is to be with the company as a pt artist for at least 6 months at a freestanding location. I started as a freelance artist, making mac my second job at the time than moved into pro. I technically work "part time" however my hours are nearly full time hours. It depends on what is needed at that location. Most partnered stores have between 4 and 6 artists, where at a pro store we are staffed with 29.

As far as the company itself to work for, its great. They keep you up to date with latest trends as well as send you through their "basic training." I work closely with my trainers, dm, rdat, and srm therefore there are definitely some advantages at pro when it comes to opportunities. When I worked at a partnered store I had no idea who any of those people were in my region, but all regions are different. As far as pay, since I can't actually say, but I'd say it's based on cosmetic retail experience when applying for pt/ft and retail experience when applying for freelance.

I think if makeup is what you are passionate about then go for it. Feel it, think it, believe it and opportunities will surely come your way.

No you do not, however having experience is preferred. Once you make it through your first interview, one or two makeup application interviews will follow.
