I've had naturally frizzy wavy coarse dry hair all my life and the same is for most of my sisters. I'm really sick of it because I just want smooth hair but I've tried everything: every product, hair mask, coconut oil, any other oil you get the picture and it is still frizzy! So I was wondering if they were split ends because I do use a straightener often. People always say twist the hair and the split ends will show. I do that but it's a mess...hair spills everywhere when I do that, same when my hair is straightened. Not as much but it still does that. I just don't think they are split ends though because my sister who's hair is exactly like mine does that, the only difference is she never used heat. Ever maybe twice a year but it is rare for her to use heat. So is it split ends or is my hair just that frizzy?

When you straighten your hair do you use a heat protecting spray? If you don't then that might be the cause of the damage. Maybe ask your hairdresser for some guidance?

Well, you say you have "naturally" dry, frizzy, course hair. So it sounds like you've answered your own question. Esp. when you say your sister has the same type of hair. Your hair is just naturally frizzy. I have the same type of hair and have virtually zero split ends. But my hair is naturally frizzy and is only smooth looking when I get it blown out with a blowdryer & round brush. And I only get it blown out once every 3 months when I get my roots done & get a haircut. I just just try to preserve the integrity of my hair by not abusing it. No heat, using sulfate-free cleansers, only wash once a week at the most & no harsh coloring, bleaching or brushing. I use a daily hair oil on the ends to prevent split ends and use leave in products after cleansing to keep the frizz to a minimum.
For me, making my hair completely frizz free takes the heat of a dryer & a round brush, but even though my hair looks healthy and smooth afterwards, I'm actually damaging my hair and adding to the frizz. in the end. So that's why I only allow it to happen once every 3 months. And inbetween, I deal with the puffy, frizzy hair. Because, ultimately, I want healthy split-end free hair... frizz and all. Also, you can experience hair "breakage" without actually having split ends. Don't get me wrong, you can have both... split ends & breakage or one or the other.
