Those look like fever blisters rather than cold sores to me.

You can't get rid of cold sores overnight they're a herpes flare up
Just take those ointments for herpes and don't share anything you touched after they've touched your lips and wash your hands well

Yeah I know all about sanitisation with cold sores :) I'm just bummed that I got these just the day before going out. And yes I have had the flu and a throat/ear infection so my immunity has dropped dramatically.
I've got the usual creams for them but they don't work that well. Thanks for the help ladies c

I don't have personal experience with this but my ex manager /friend did and other than medicated gels and abreva, the best solution for her were these stickers that they sell for cold sores that are circular and transparent. They helped keep bacteria from getting to the sore and in her experience it healed much faster. Also, it looks reasonable

Thanks M G. But I don't take mouthwashes daily because of the chemicals in them (I'm a dental nurse so know about what's in them). And thanks Lara, I might get some of those stickers!

Go to the doctor and get a prescription for valacyclovir! I know you probably won't be able to get in by your dinner, but for the future, this stuff is amazing. I've suffered from cold sores since I was in elementary school so I totally understand how terrible they are. I take one of these pills every day and it prevents me from getting them, and if by some chance I get one, I take 2 twice a day for 2 days and it's gone.

I would definitely get a prescription from your doctor like Kat suggested, but I also take L-lysine, it's a vitamin. I know a lot of people have different opinions on vitamins but it's an option. I also know eating strawberries and avocados are good because of the natural vitamins in them. Putting milk on a cotton ball and holding it to your lips is said to make them go away faster (because of the L-lysine in the milk), also switching up your toothbrush once they have healed so you don't have the bacteria in them. I also put Vaseline on my lips every night and it helps keep bacteria out so they can't get worse, and it keeps them moisturized and seems to help them go down in size. I have gotten up to 30 coldsores at one time so I know how much they suck to look at plus they are painful. I have tried everything you can google! Also be very careful with your makeup application, the virus can spread to your eyes so make sure the brushes you use don't transfer from lips to eyes and are cleaned properly! Sorry for the novel, hope this helped :)
