MUA- Where to start?

I've just finished my cert 3 in retail makeup and hairstyling and am wanting to start my own business (as freelance then work my way up to owning a store) but, like any makeup artist, I need to start somewhere.
Any tips on the most basic kit I'd need to start my career, networking tip and all that jazz are most welcomed and appreciated!
