So I've been told by makeup artists that I should wear both liquid and powered foundation. And then I've had others tell me one or the other. Is any of that true? can you just wear powered makeup alone? Or should you wear both?

You can wear powder alone, liquid alone, of powder and liquid together. It's really personal preference and what works with your skin

I use to wear liquid and powder on top. Now I wear powder alone and I like it much better. Makes me less oily and more natural to me.

Did you ask them "why" they prefer liquid & powder together?

I used to wear both liquid and powder but when I started to just to powder foundation without the liquid it felt so much lighter on my skin. I would prefer one or the other because both just felt like my skin wasn't breathing.

Personally, I'm going to say one or the other. Its just going to look cakey with both. I like them on their own. if I need powder with my liquid foundations, I use translucent as its finely milled and has no coverage.

I agree with RT. I've gone into MAC and had several artists suggest I use both. The first time I fell for it and my skin looked like a caked up mess. It was just too much. Some MUA like that thick look to the skin. I find it to be overkill. You can get a positive and much more beautiful look if the less is more philosophy is applied.

It depends. I prefer using only one kind at a time because I like L-M coverage. However, if you've a very light liquid base, going over with a powder foundation, especially on problem areas, can help.

I like a full coverage makeup face, so use both, mostly because if I wear powder on its own, throughout the day, it will wear patchy (probably because I have combo skin, but still a factor to consider), and if I wear just liquid, it's really dewy and not enough coverage. However it is a matter of how much coverage you want. I hope this helps??

What were the reasons they gave for you to wear both? Everyone's skin is so different but I tend to think one or the other would look better, it's really easy to get a cakey unnatural look otherwise xx
